Mięsna Paczka is an e-commerce offering meat from organic farming, sold in a Direct-To-Consumer model. Customers compose their package from their favorite products or decide on one of the proposed variants.

SUMMARY

Building a fully personalized online store to replace an existing solution based on the popular open source platform, which did not meet the expectations of the customer's unconventional industry. The new system automates key order processing processes and allows for further development in line with the customer's vision.

PROJECT SCOPE

Project consisted of 3 compnents:
  • An online store, which presents the current offer and content related to sales of meat sourced from organic farming.
  • Customer panel where the customer can postpone their next delivery, change the composition of his package and edit their details.
  • Admin Panel used for managing orders and the client base, as well as the offer and promotions presented on the website.

How we approached the challenge

We started the process by breaking down the existing solution and conducting a thorough interview with the client. We focused particular attention on functionalities, the lack of which was forced by the earlier decision to choose an open source platform.

The pace of creating a new store and implementing it onto the production environment

The client was very anxious to implement the new version of the store as quickly as possible, because the existing solution prevented him from starting marketing campaigns aimed at increasing the monthly number of orders. Immediately after agreeing the terms of the contract, we reorganized our team to have dedicated developers for the Mięsna Paczka project and implement it on production as soon as possible. We managed to create a new store in a record 3 months.

The logic of the nearest delivery

Delivery of frozen meat in the Direct-To-Consumer model differs from the sale of traditional products. The warehouse needs to know in advance how many orders are planned for a given day in order to organize its work properly and order the right amount of dry ice. Additionally, the process is complicated by weekends and non-working days. The above process determined us to create the logic of the nearest delivery date. This logic guarantees the delivered meat will be completely fresh and kept at the right temperature.

Automated Customer Service

The modus operandi of Mięsna Paczka assumes a minimum number of contacts with the client, in order for the entire process to be as seamless as possible, which is why the client decided to automate communication via text message. Thanks to full control over the package via text messages, the clients are able to manage their order by replying to the messages they receive from the system. Additionally customers are informed about each subsequent stage of delivery. Thanks to this solution, we limited the number of emails to a minimum.

Integration with the warehouse system

The Mięsna Paczka warehouse uses a dedicated storage system created by an external team of developers. In cooperation with the aforementioned team we managed to develop a comprehensive notifications system which allowed us to automate the synchronization between e-commerce and warehouse systems.
